Schuylkill takes first place as In-state Alumni Group in Homecoming parade

Penn State Homecoming is one of the largest student-run homecoming organizations in the country. Its purpose is to celebrate tradition and instill pride in all members of the Penn State family through active engagement of students, alumni, faculty, and staff across the community. 400 student volunteers donate their time to create a multitude of events.

Penn State Schuylkill adds women's soccer: Cieplinski hired as coach

Stan Cieplinski, Reading, PA, was hired as the first coach of the newly established women's soccer program at Penn State Schuylkill. Cieplinski will begin recruiting immediately, with the new competition season starting in fall 2015. Cieplinski brings to Penn State Schuylkill his experience as a player, a coach, and an administrator. He was a starting forward at Slippery Rock University, where he earned a degree in Physical Education, and the head coach at Albright College and Longwood University.

Libraries archivist presents 'Queering Penn State History'

Penn State Archivist Doris Malkmus will be traveling to Penn State campuses this fall to present “Queering Penn State History.” Using a game setting and primary sources from The Eberly Family Special Collections Library, she will help attendees discover the tumultuous history of Penn State’s first gay student organization, circa 1968–1974. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Reception held for Honors program students

A reception was held on September 9 for students enrolled in the Penn State Schuylkill Honors program. The program consists of thirty-four students who meet rigorous academic standards, including an overall SAT score of 1,700 or a minimum college GPA of 3.5. These students must complete seven credits of honors courses every year.

Radiologic Science program awarded continued accreditation

Penn State Schuylkill offers an associate degree in Radiological Science (Radiography) that is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), which is recognized by the United States Department of Education. In order to maintain its accreditation, the program is periodically reevaluated according to the Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiography.

Dr. Charles Cantalupo travels to Africa as invited keynote speaker

Charles Cantalupo, Distinguished Professor of English, Comparative Literature and African Studies, Penn State Schuylkill, was recently invited to be a keynote speaker at the international conference "From Asmara 2000 to Nairobi 2014: New Horizons and Trends in African Languages and Literatures." The conference was held Aug. 6 to 8 at Kenyatta University, convened by the Institute of African Studies (IAS) in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mr. Robert Stickloon wins award at Art of the State 2014

Mr. Robert Stickloon, instructor in Art at Penn State Schuylkill, won the William D. Davis Memorial Award for Drawing on June 21 at the 47th Annual Juried Exhibition, Art of the State 2014, that was held at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. His winning piece, graphite and charcoal on paper, titled "My Dad's Plane," was one of 122 pieces of art displayed at the exhibition that were chosen from 1772 entries.
