Penn State Schuylkill honored students, faculty and staff during an Honors Day program on April 17. The honorees are listed below:
Award for Excellence in Teaching - Salih Hakan Can, associate professor of administration of justice
Award for Excellence in Faculty Service - Michael R. Gallis, associate professor of physics
Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Accomplishments - Helen M. Hendy, professor of psychology
Staff Service Award - Cecelia Boran, campus nurse
In an ongoing effort to bring greater awareness to sexual violence and child abuse, several Penn State events are being held during the month of April, which has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Penn State Schuylkill was named to the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, one of only 690 institutions of higher education to receive this honor This designation is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement.
