Penn State Schuylkill’s Business Boot Camp equips aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge they need to start or expand their business. This six-week adult learning program will meet virtually on Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 13 through Feb. 17, 2021.
The Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society recently established an endowed award to help students access a high-quality Penn State education. The first two students to receive the scholarship were named this fall.

David “DJ” Higgins, assistant teaching professor of film/video and music at Penn State Schuylkill, has launched a quarterly humanities journal with the intention of amplifying marginalized voices in the academic community. The journal’s first edition was released this fall, and contributors focused on the film "Green Book." The second edition, whose contributors will examine the importance and role of superheroes in film, will be released in early 2021.
Penn State has decided to delay the start of in-person classes and transition to a fully remote learning environment for the beginning of the spring 2021 semester at all campus locations. This decision was made following extensive analysis and scenario planning given worsening virus conditions nationally and across the state indicating predictions of rising hospitalization rates in the coming weeks.
The PSUAC Executive Committee voted unanimously to cancel all intercollegiate athletics competition for fall and winter team sports during the 2020-21 academic year. The sports affected by this decision include men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball, at Penn State Beaver, Brandywine, DuBois, Fayette, Hazleton, Greater Allegheny, Lehigh Valley, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Scranton, Schuylkill, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre and York.

The Penn State northeast region campuses will host a spring 2021 Virtual Program Series featuring topics ranging from movie promotion, chocolate and family business, NASA, forensics, bingo, children’s books, the entertainment industry, current weather and nature. The programs are open to the public and will be held in the evening throughout the spring.
During an employee recognition event held virtually on Dec. 18, Penn State Schuylkill honored faculty and staff with years of service awards and announced the 2019-20 winner of the campus’s Outstanding Staff Award. Earlier in the semester, annual faculty awards for advising, teaching, and service were announced.
