David “D.J.” Higgins, assistant teaching professor of film/video and music at Penn State Schuylkill, has produced a video series showcasing small businesses in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, in partnership with Pottsville Area Development Corporation. The “Business Gems” series has released three episodes thus far with one episode featuring a Penn State Schuylkill alumnus and business owner.

Penn State Schuylkill student Poetic Session found her ideal internship at Gym-Jam Therapeutics, located in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. By interning at the therapy center for individuals with autism and other special needs, Session learned to seize opportunities while creating meaningful memories.

Through this internship, he’s learning fundamental principles that will benefit him throughout his academic and post-graduation career.
Linda MacDuff has accepted the position of director of housing and food services at Penn State Berks. In this role, she will direct operations at Penn State Berks, as well as manage external food-service contracts for Penn State's Lehigh Valley and Schuylkill campuses.
Due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 conditions around the country and in Pennsylvania, effective immediately (Aug. 4), Penn State will require all students, faculty, staff and visitors — including those who are vaccinated and unvaccinated — to wear masks indoors at all campuses. Within the last 24 hours, many counties that are home to Penn State campuses have shifted to “orange” status, warranting an immediate adjustment to the University’s on-campus masking requirement.
Sean Duffy, Penn State Schuylkill third-year student-athlete, finds an internship with Bucks County District Attorney’s Office located in Doylestown, Pa., that will prepare him for his future in law enforcement. As an intern, Duffy has the experience of attending court trials, providing information to defense attorneys, and sharing his viewpoint on evidence that will be used in trials.
Third-year Penn State Schuylkill student Dominique Hughes is expanding her knowledge of internal communications through a summer internship with Independent Dock & Door. As part of her internship, Hughes developed a business-critical project intake form and helped plan an event to show appreciation to the company’s hard-working technicians.
Recognized student organizations may return to holding in-person activities, including meetings, tabling, and other events for the fall semester. Students are expected to follow all current masking requirements on their campus during these activities.
