About Penn State Schuylkill's B.S. in Business
Students first complete basic and intermediate core business courses including accounting, economics, management information systems, marketing, business logistics, and finance. You'll then have the opportunity to choose between three 18-credit specializations to customize your degree based on your interests:
Accounting focuses on the development and interpretation of financial information critical to managerial decision-making. This option provides students with the skills and knowledge to pursue careers in business with an emphasis on the areas of financial and managerial accounting, systems and controls, auditing, and taxation. At graduation, students are prepared to sit for the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam, a certification that will help you stand out from the competition.
This coursework emphasizes management and marketing skills and knowledge necessary for the business professional to function in the business world of today.
Students develop a program of study based on their specific career needs, with approval from a faculty advisor. Such individualized programs of study prepare students for a variety of business careers including opening and running a small business.
