Malique Hughes is a corporate communication major from Browns Mills, New Jersey, who transferred to Penn State Schuylkill to play basketball and gained a community of friends and mentors. Hughes, described as thoughtful and creative, has ambitious plans for the future, as he considers pursuing a master's degree in communication.

Penn State Schuylkill inducted six new students and promoted five others to regular membership in its chapter of Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta), the national biological honor society, in a ceremony held virtually on April 16. Five officers-elect for the upcoming 2021-22 academic year also were recognized.
Penn State Schuylkill hosted its fifth annual Business Plan Competition virtually on Thursday, April 22, awarding $5,000 each to two creative startups. In total, $79,000 has been awarded to 23 small businesses throughout Schuylkill County over the last five years.
