Important information for graduating students:
Arrival to the ceremony
Graduates are asked to report to campus at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8. The commencement venue will open to guests at that time as well.
If the weather is clear, graduates will meet in the Nittany V parking lot for line up.
While the ceremony will be held rain or shine, we will move the graduates' line up location to the interior of the Classroom Building in the case of inclement weather. Penn State Schuylkill will make a weather call at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the ceremony and email you by 8:15 a.m. should we decide to utilize the rain location. Please keep an eye on your email that morning.
By now you should have received your grad pass and your guests' tickets by email from [email protected]. If not, please:
- Log in to the ticketing system to download your tickets
- Or email [email protected] as soon as possible for assistance
Make sure you and all your guests either print and bring your tickets or have them readily available on your mobile device. Tickets are required in order to attend the ceremony. Guest tickets will be scanned at the venue entrance, and graduate tickets will be scanned during lineup.
Parking and ADA accommodations
On commencement day, you and your guests should park in the student parking lots off University Drive. If you or your guests require accommodations that we are not yet aware of, please contact Therese Hohman at as soon as possible.
Professional photography during the ceremony
Professional photographers from GradImages will be taking individual photographs of all students as they process across the stage and receive congratulations from the chancellor. In addition, a posed photograph in front of a solid backdrop will be taken of each graduate with their diploma jacket after they exit the stage. Each graduate will be contacted directly by GradImages via mail and email to notify them that their photos are available for viewing.
If for any reason you do not receive a proof, you can visit gradimages.com/Home/Search to find your photos. You can also contact GradImages’ customer service department at 800-261-2576 or [email protected].
Bookstore and coffee bar hours on May 8
Both the campus bookstore and Hidden Stream Cafe's coffee bar will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the day of commencement. You and your guests are invited to stop by to grab a Starbucks refreshment or some Penn State alumni gear!
Academic regalia and other clothing guidelines
Undergraduate academic regalia is a blue gown with wide sleeves and a blue mortarboard cap with a tassel, worn on the right front edge until your degrees are conferred during the ceremony, at which point you will move your tassel to the left. No regalia will be available at the ceremony.
Remember to steam your gown before commencement to remove wrinkles from packaging.
Uniforms of the armed forces are the only apparel other than academic regalia that is officially recognized and permitted.
Due to the formality of this occasion and safety concerns, please wear appropriate footwear. Flip-flops, clogs, very high heels, and loose fitting shoes are not recommended.
It is requested that men wear slacks and a dress shirt with a tie. For women, slacks with a blouse or a dress is appropriate.
The only ornamentation (including pins, cords, ribbons, scarves, stoles, sashes, medallions, etc.) permitted is that which has been provided by the campus to represent Penn State Schuylkill Honors Program participants, national honor society members, and student athletes.
Please email [email protected] with any questions. We look forward to celebrating together!
