Academic regalia and other clothing guidelines
Undergraduate academic regalia is a blue gown with wide sleeves and a blue mortarboard cap with a tassel, worn on the right front edge until your degrees are conferred during the ceremony, at which point you will move your tassel to the left. No regalia will be available at the ceremony.
Remember to steam your gown before commencement to remove wrinkles from packaging.
Uniforms of the armed forces are the only apparel other than academic regalia that is officially recognized and permitted.
Due to the formality of this occasion and safety concerns, please wear appropriate footwear. Flip-flops, clogs, very high heels, and loose fitting shoes are not recommended.
It is requested that men wear slacks and a dress shirt with a tie. For women, slacks with a blouse or a dress is appropriate.
The only ornamentation (including pins, cords, ribbons, scarves, stoles, sashes, medallions, etc.) permitted is that which has been provided by the campus to represent Penn State Schuylkill Honors Program participants, national honor society members, and student athletes.
Will I receive my diploma during the commencement ceremony?
Diplomas are not distributed during the commencement ceremony. After all degree requirements are met and reviewed by the academic college and the Registrar’s Office (approximately eight weeks following commencement), diplomas will be mailed to the diploma address (if applicable) or permanent address set in LionPATH. Additional diploma questions may be sent to [email protected]. Penn State also now offers the CeDiploma in addition to the traditional paper diploma that arrives in the mail.
Please email [email protected] with any questions. We look forward to celebrating together!
