What is it really like to be a Penn State Schuylkill student? If you want to find out the answer to that question join us for one of our Lion for a Day programs. Our Lion for a Day programs are geared at students looking to start at Penn State Schuylkill Fall 201
Just as the Emergency Broadcast System periodically runs tests on radio
and television stations, Penn State plans to test the PSUTXT
text-messaging system to help ensure its functionality in a true
emergency. At 1 p.m. on Feb. 23, PSUTXT administrators from each campus
will log into the system and send a message that will be marked clearly
as a test.
"Testing the system like this does a number of things," explained
Annemarie Mountz, assistant director of Public Information.
The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), Central Pennsylvania
Section will hold its spring workshop at Penn State Schuylkill on Friday, March
11. This workshop will be a sharing of methods and ideas for physics or physical
science teachers of all experience levels. It will focus on how we can use the
idea of an engineering project to learn basic physics concepts.
Feb. 22 marked the date that Penn State was founded in 1855 as a publicly
supported agricultural college. In 1863, Penn State was designated as
Pennsylvania's land-grant college -- a distinction that only Penn State holds
and a designation that created a university to educate large segments of society
that had not yet been served by higher education.
In the fall of 2010, the Office of the University Registrar
released new functionality for students and parents in eLion. With the consent
of their student, parents may view their student's course schedule and grades
via the eLion Parent/Other menu. Set-up is simple and instructions were
included in announcements which were shared widely in September.
The tradition continues this year with the CHAOS ON THE COURT: Penn State
Schuylkill's 2nd Annual Students vs. Faculty/Staff Volleyball Game. The
event will be held on Sunday, April 10 at 4pm in the Gym.

Penn State Schuylkill's Nittany Players are preparing to perform "The Wiz," April 14 through 17
in the John E. Morgan Auditorium.
"The Wiz" is a children's show, something that people of all ages could enjoy. "The Wiz" is a funky musical version of the L. Frank Baum story "The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz," telling the story of Dorothy, a Kansas farm girl, who
is lifted to the land of Oz by a tornado. She meets a few friends, including a
scarecrow, tin man and lion, as she follows the yellow brick road in search of
the wizard who will help her get home.
