Professors develop animated learning modules for computer course

Jeffrey Stone, instructor of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at Penn State Schuylkill, and Tricia Clark, instructional designer and instructor of IST at Penn State Berks, have developed a set of animated learning modules designed to help first-year students succeed in the CMPSC 101 and CMPSC 121 courses at Penn State Schuylkill.

Extended Hours Offered

To accommodate student needs, several offices will be open until 7:00 pm on the following dates: Monday, August 23 and Tuesday, August 24 Wednesday, September 1 and Thursday, September 2 The offices that will be open are:  CE/Adult Student Coordinator, Bursar, Financial Aid Office located in the Administration Building and the Advising Center and Registrar Office located in the B-Building.  

Leading the Green Challenge Conference to be held for Faculty & Staff

Penn State has become known as one of the national leaders in sustainability.  The efforts of the university has had a huge impact on the campuses and has served as models for other universities.  On March 3, 2010, the first Leading the Green Challenge Conference was held at University Park.  Over 250 people attended and the results from this conference not only benefited the environment but also helped to reduce operating costs for the University. 

The Medical Minute: Practice fireworks safety this Independence Day

Independence Day celebrations almost always include fireworks of some kind. The Prevent Blindness America organization recommends attending professionally organized fireworks displays rather than buying and setting off your own. This view is echoed by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which collects and reports data on fireworks-related injuries every year. They report that 7,000 emergency room visits from fireworks-related injuries occurred during 2008, including seven deaths. In 2007, there were 11 deaths and 9,800 emergency room visits from fireworks-related injury.
