Penn State Schuylkill students presented original research at the campus’s biannual Student Research and Scholarship Conference on Nov. 30. Sixteen students from a variety of disciplines presented topics that ranged from a virtual reality experience to improve understanding of electric fields, to synthesis of chemical compounds to discover novel treatments for disease, and examination of important cultural and societal issues.
Penn State alumna Helene Zuber Slocum and her husband, Jeff Slocum, recently established Penn State Schuylkill's Zuber Slocum Academic Success Program, which focuses on first-year students, helping them to explore their learning styles, develop study strategies and receive one-on-one coaching from peer academic coaches.

For alumna Tara Laubenstine, speaking to a room full of students at Penn State Schuylkill feels like coming home. Penn State Schuylkill has named more than 250 students as fall 2022 dean’s list designees. To earn a dean’s list designation, students must end the semester with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher. The campus will celebrate the students’ accomplishments at a ceremony during the spring semester.

Teaching and Learning with Technology will offer a new virtual complement to the TLT Symposium this year. Symposium Lite is a half-day event on March 23, which will feature prerecorded presentations and live discussions.
Taura L. Barr, associate professor of clinical nursing at Ohio State University’s College of Nursing, will be the speaker at the Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing's 2023 joint Jean Vallance Lecture in Nursing Innovation/WE LEAD Inspirational Leader Speaker Series on Friday, March 31, at the Wyndham Garden State College. The lecture will be offered in-person as well as via webinar.
