On Saturday, May 16, 2015, the Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society will sponsor its sixth annual Penn State Day at Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, Pennsylvania.
Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be served from noon to 1:00 p.m. and will feature a performance by the Alumni Blue Band, an appearance by the Nittany Lion, and prize raffles. A Penn State party will take place at 3:00 p.m.
John Cooper, director of athletics, is pleased to announce the hire of Charles Killian as head coach of the women's basketball program at Penn State Schuylkill.
After graduating from Blue Mountain Area High School, Killian enlisted in the military, providing service in the Pennsylvania National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. MSgt. Killian earned E-7 rank in the U.S. Air Force, and is retired after twenty-one years of active duty. He enjoyed playing and coaching basketball while serving in the military, as well as participating in other sports.
John Cooper, director of athletics at Penn State Schuylkill, is pleased to announce the hire of Brett Matukewicz as head coach of the new men's wrestling program.
Matukewicz is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, where he majored in sports management and communications.
Throughout 2015 there will be hour-long sessions focused on different issues that are important for women's wellness. Each session will highlight a selected topic with professional guest speaker(s) presenting, followed by a question and answer session.
The series kicks off April 1 with, "The Sandwich Generation: How to balance your priorities," in room 101 of the Classroom building. This session is being presented by Judy Lenick, senior academic adviser and instructor at Penn State Schuylkill.
Penn State Schuylkill has received $5,000 from Weis Markets, through the company's participation in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program, in support of the campus' Summer Scholars youth program. The company's overall $10,000 EITC contribution to Penn State included $5,000 that was designated to Penn State Altoona.

On December 8, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) announced the 2014 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, with Penn State Schuylkill being named to the list for the second consecutive year.
Penn State Schuylkill has announced that it has been approved to offer a bachelor of science degree in Biology, general biology option beginning in summer 2015. The program is available to current students, as well as to those pursuing acceptance beginning summer and fall 2015.
Students who enroll in the program are able to tailor their program for careers requiring broad backgrounds and diverse skills in the biological sciences, or for graduate study in many fields of biology. Students can select courses from a variety of areas of contemporary biology.

Morgan Auditorium on Wednesday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. The program is being conducted by Dr. Valerie Schrader, assistant professor of Communications, Arts, and Sciences.
The 80th Anniversary Committee at Penn State Schuylkill will be hosting a gala for the local community at the Schuylkill Country Club on November 6 at 6:00 p.m. The Gala is the culmination of a year-long celebration of the 80th anniversary of Penn State Schuylkill.
