Spring 2010 Commencement Speaker Announced

Penn State Schuylkill will be holding graduation on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10:00 am on the Campus Green.  Amilcar Arroyo, Editor, "El Mensajero" Newspaper will be the keynote Speaker.  In case of inclement weather the commencement ceremonies will be held in the gymnasium.

Schuylkill hosts Black History Month events

In observance of African-American History Month, Penn State Schuylkill will host a variety of events and programs throughout the month of February:  Tues. Feb. 2 - MOVIE NIGHT: Higher Learning at 9:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Wed. Feb. 3 - GAME SHOW: Challenge (featuring some questions from Black History) at 9:00 p.m. in HWC 201.

Fifteenth Road Scholars tour to visit eastern Pa., Penn State sites

The annual Road Scholars spring tour for Penn State faculty, hosted by President Graham Spanier, is accepting reservations for its May 10-12 trip across southeastern Pennsylvania. The tour offers new and newly tenured faculty several dynamic opportunities to learn about Penn State and Pennsylvania as they travel to several University campuses and tour businesses and popular historic sites. In addition, the tour provides an excellent opportunity for faculty to establish relationships with colleagues across the University, while the itinerary connects them with Penn Staters and residents of the Commonwealth.

Essence of Joy Concert Event

Dr. Anthony Leach, Associate Professor of Music and Music Education and 2009-2010 Laureate for Penn State University, will perform at Penn State Schuylkill Campus on Saturday, January 23, 2010. Dr. Leach will perform a concert, along with the Essence of Joy Choir, in the John E. Morgan Auditorium at 7:30 PM.

Campus to Hold FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid) Night

****PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9th, THE FAFAS NIGHT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2010.**** A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) night will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 6:00 pm.     

Campuses provided regional training to help save costs

Over 100 Housing and Food Services employees from seven eastern commonwealth campuses met at Penn State Schuylkill for technical service training. The regional daylong event was an effort to provide training for employees while exercising cost saving initiatives. Event speakers included Schuylkill chancellor Keith Hillkirk, Auxiliary and Business Services (A&BS) safety/workers' compensation manager Ed Dobo, A&BS human resources director Jennifer Wilkes, Food Services executive chef Mark Kowalski and several more.
