- Honors Program

We will be using an adapted parliamentary style to fit within the 45-minute time frame, and each team will consist of two speakers and several researchers to help them prepare. Afterwards, if time allows, we will open the floor to questions about the debate topic from the audience. - Schuylkill County Heritage
Ethnic Heritage: Business, Tourism, Academia, and the People Who Live Here
The anthracite coal region of Pennsylvania was always noted for its ethnic diversity. The expansion of mining came at the same time as waves of immigrants from all parts of Europe were entering the United States and mining drew many Western and Central Europeans to the area. At least a few from each group settled here with concentrations in patches thorughout the area. When mining declined, some leaders and developers thought that tourism, based off these ethnic communities and the mining industry, could fill the resulting economic void. Since everyone wants prosperity, one might think businesses, academics, and the people at large, would pull together to make tourism happen. We will examine why this happens or how it fails through an examination of heritage, environmental, ethnic, and industrial tourism practices. - Crack the Code: A Library Escape Challenge
Get ready to solve, search, and discover! In this escape room-style adventure, you and your teammates will solve puzzles, crack codes, and uncover clues. Along the way, you'll explore library spaces and discover helpful tools and resources as you search for a professor's lost research.
