Penn State Schuylkill students show off their awards at the FBLA Pennsylvania State Leadership Conference: Alex Kull, AJ Serrano, Carter Strouse and Katie Wank.
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — Penn State Schuylkill participated in the 53rd annual Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Pennsylvania State Leadership Conference, held March 27-28.
The Penn State Schuylkill FBLA chapter sent seven students, including AJ Serrano, president of Pennsylvania FBLA. Students competed in a variety of events, with some completing objective testing, such as organizational behavior and leadership, prior to the conference, while others participated in in-person competitions, including job interview and customer service simulations.
The conference opened with Serrano welcoming attendees and recognizing first-time participants. Students also heard from keynote speaker Dara Bachman, president of Fulton Private Bank.
Throughout the conference, students attended workshops on topics such as the science of happiness and artificial intelligence in business, and participated in networking opportunities through membership connection mixers.
The event concluded with a dinner and awards ceremony.
Penn State Schuylkill students earned the following honors:
- Business Communication: Carter Strouse, first place
- Foundations of Finance: Katie Wank, fourth place
- Impromptu Speaking: AJ Serrano, first place
- Job Interview: AJ Serrano, second place
- Parliamentary Procedure: Alex Kull, second place
Students who placed first through fourth in their categories are eligible to compete at the National Leadership Conference, which will be held in Las Vegas in June 2026.
