As part of flood relief in Philadelphia, Schaeffer's unit was dispatched to the Philadelphia area in early Sept. 2020. Schaeffer said he was honored to join with his peers in the effort and was proud of how swiftly the unit mobilized.
Stakem was inspired to join the Pennsylvania National Guard after a heart-warming conversation with a military recruiter. She believes her military experience will aid her future career in medicine.
In addition to his school work, club and role with the Pennsylvania National Guard, Figueredo works part-time with the Veterans Affairs and Services office to provide mentoring services and connections for veterans across campus.
Outside of her role with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Fabrizi works as a lecturer and program coordinator for the Project and Supply Chain Management program at Penn State Schuylkill.
Today (June 14) marks Flag Day, which was originally proclaimed in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson and established by Congress in 1949. While Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, Pennsylvania observes it as a state holiday.
