Kacey Harper, a third-year corporate communication major at Penn State Schuylkill, discovered her passion for the field after initially considering marketing. She honed her skills through various leadership roles on campus and a hands-on internship with Schuylkill United Way. Harper is eager to pursue a career that allows her to make meaningful contributions, and she encourages others to gain as much professional experience as possible through Schuylkill’s Co-Op program.
The Penn State Alumni Association (PSAA) has announced a $20,000 matching commitment that will grow the scholarship endowment recently established in honor of 2024 Renaissance Fund honorees Roger Williams, retired PSAA executive director, and his wife, Karen Magnuson, retired assistant director of University marketing. In recognition of the Renaissance Fund’s 55th anniversary, the PSAA will match gifts of $550 or more to any named Renaissance Fund with an equal contribution to the Roger L. Williams and Karen L. Magnuson Renaissance Fund.

Malak Mowafi, a senior student-athlete at Penn State Schuylkill, has been honored with the 2023-24 National Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award by Chi Alpha Sigma, recognizing her outstanding academic, athletic and leadership achievements. Mowafi, who maintains a 4.0 GPA while double majoring in cybersecurity analytics and operations and criminal justice, has excelled in cross-country, women's basketball, and track and field, earning numerous accolades and leadership roles. Her dedication sets a new standard for student-athletes, making her the first individual from a non-NCAA institution to receive this award.
