We Are Penn State Because of You
Your choice to make a gift is more than a financial transaction—it’s a shoulder to stand on, an expression of encouragement, and for many Penn Staters, the difference between an aspiration and an achievement.
Establishing an Endowment
Endowed scholarships and awards give donors the opportunity to establish guidelines for how funds from their endowment will be used. These guidelines ensure that the donor’s philanthropic goals are achieved. The gift of an endowment eases the financial burden placed on students and families to afford a Penn State education.
Undergraduate Scholarship: Gift Level $50,000+
This type of endowment offers donors the opportunity to define scholarship criteria that expresses their passions and values by indicating specific preferences for recipients, such as rewarding student leaders or academic achievers from a particular community, or supporting students in a preferred major who also share other aspects of the donor’s background. Donors may choose the name of the scholarship fund. This gift is payable outright or can be paid with a five-year pledge.
Awards: Gift Level $20,000+
Award endowments allow donors to recognize the extraordinary achievements of Penn State students and encourage new levels of academic excellence. Donors may choose the name of the award. This gift is payable outright or can be paid with a five-year pledge.
Establishing a Non-Endowed Fund
The non-endowed fund uses the donor’s gift in its entirety each year and does not generate interest over time. When all of the money has been administered according to the donor’s wishes, the fund ceases to exist. The minimum gift for a non-endowed fund is a pledge of $2,500 per year for five years. The fund may be renewed or revised in year five.
We are grateful for the generosity of friends and alumni that have established the funds to support students at Penn State Schuylkill. Click here for a complete list of current scholarships and awards.
