SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — Penn State Schuylkill has announced that Travis Williams, senior admissions counselor, has been promoted to assistant director of admissions. Williams has been an integral part of the Penn State Schuylkill community since 2007, when he first joined as the campus' interim head men’s basketball coach. Since then, his dedication to the campus and its students has only deepened, shaping a career filled with impactful mentorship and student advocacy.
In 2015, Williams transitioned to a full-time role in the admissions department, where his ability to connect with prospective students, families and the local community has made a lasting impression. Over the years, he has played a key role in overseeing the conditional admissions process, recruiting students, and contributing to programs such as CSP, EPIC, and PASSS. He has also actively participated in multiple search committees and has been a prominent voice in promoting the University through initiatives like the Roadmap to College series and radio advertisements on T-102.
Williams’ leadership extends beyond admissions events — his commitment to student engagement and success is evident in his approach to recruiting not just students, but future graduates. His passion for helping students find their place at Penn State Schuylkill and guiding them toward academic and personal success has been a defining aspect of his career.
“Travis has been a tremendous colleague,” said Gianna Agnello-Porambo, director of admissions at Penn State Schuylkill. “He has a passion for working with students and helping them find their fit. For the last nine and a half years, I have watched him help so many students begin their Penn State journey and find their own success. He takes the time to get to know students, listen to them, and be in their corner when they are here. I look forward to seeing him thrive in this much-deserved new leadership role.”
As the new assistant director of admissions, Williams will continue to work closely with students and their families while leading out-of-state recruitment efforts and serving as the lead presenter for admissions events. His dedication and experience will further strengthen Penn State Schuylkill’s mission to provide students with opportunities for growth and success.
"It is truly an honor to be recognized and respected within both the campus community and the wider University," Williams said. "I am excited to continue connecting Penn State University with families and communities for years to come, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on how we can best support your needs on campus and beyond."
