We have all heard the slogan in regards to not
drinking and driving, but did you know that texting and driving is just as
serious? According to the National Safety Council, approximately 23 percent of
all crashes - or 1.2 million crashes - each year are caused by drivers using
their handheld or hands-free cell phones and texting while driving. This is much
greater than the number of crashes caused by any other distraction
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness month. Join us in discussing the effects of texting and driving and what you can do right now to save your life as well as someone else's life. The presentation is on April 13, Wednesday, from 6:30-7:30 pm in the conference room of the C-building. Shown will be some hard-hitting videosĀ and Carol Alonge, from The PA Highway Safety Patrol, will be there to discuss the dangers of driving while you are texting, talking, or e-mailing on your phone. All are encourageĀ all to attend!
