New Student Academic Orientation (NSAO) assists first-year students with their transition to Penn State by introducing them to the academic culture and campus resources. This program is the first stage of academic advising, and provides students with an understanding of their scholastic preparation, academic ability, and educational and professional interests, and introduces them to the academic structure and degree programs of the University.
The NSAO program provides students with the opportunity to learn about their placement test results, to meet with an academic adviser to review their educational plans, and to register in advance for fall semester classes. In addition, students receive their Penn State computer access accounts and will participate in programs designed to expose them to the college experience at Penn State.
Welcome letters were mailed to all incoming freshman. If you are an incoming freshman and still have not received your letter with the instructions for scheduling your NSAO, please call our Academic Advising Center at 570-385-6110.
