Reception held for Honors Society students at Penn State Schuylkill

A reception was held for the Penn State Schuylkill Honors Society students on November 5, 2013 in the R. Michael Fryer Conference Center. The Penn State Schuylkill Honors Society consists of thirty-eight students who meet rigorous academic standards, including an overall SAT score of 1,700. These students must maintain seven credits of honors courses every year.

The co-coordinators of the program, Dr. Charles Cantalupo, Dr. Darcy Medica, and Dr. S. Hakan Can said they are very pleased to work with these students. They feel that Penn State Schuylkill has a strong and vital honors program that can serve the best and the brightest students. Dr. Cantalupo is a distinguished professor of English, comparative literature and African studies; Dr. Medica is an associate professor of biology; and Dr. Can is an associate professor of administration of justice at Penn State Schuylkill.

During the reception, Dr. Cantalupo unveiled a self-portrait that he has donated to Penn State Schuylkill. The portrait was commissioned by the Bethlehem Arts Commission for a show last summer.
