Penn State Homecoming is one of the largest student-run homecoming organizations in the country. Its purpose is to celebrate tradition and instill pride in all members of the Penn State family through active engagement of students, alumni, faculty, and staff across the community. 400 student volunteers donate their time to create a multitude of events.
The Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society was represented by students, alumni, and staff in the annual homecoming parade that took place on September 26 at the University Park campus. The group won first place in the category of In-state Alumni Group, and was presented with a check for $500.00.
This year's homecoming theme was "Honor the purpose, carry the pride," and is a reminder of what it means to be a Penn Stater. The parade brings together students, alumni, faculty, and staff members all across the Penn State community through a procession across the University Park campus and the downtown State College area. Alumni groups travel from around the country to attend or walk in the parade.
Penn State Schuylkill will celebrate its campus homecoming from October 5 - 11, 2014. There are a variety of student events scheduled throughout the week. The alumni vs. student basketball game will finish out the week on Oct 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the gym. Afterward, alumni, faculty, students, staff, and parents are invited to attend a campus picnic at 4:00 pm on the campus green.
