Community invited to attend annual Persuasive Speech Contest

Members of the local community, students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the Penn State Schuylkill Annual Persuasive Speech Contest in the John E. Morgan Auditorium on April 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

Two students from each of the spring 2015 semester public speaking classes will be selected by their instructor to participate. They will each present their persuasive speech to the audience and a panel of four judges from the local community that includes Lynn Bucklar, Kyle Heffner, Anita LeClaire, and Kent Steinmetz. Brief opening and closing remarks will be made by Dr. Valerie Schrader, assistant professor of communications.

The judges will be evaluating each speech in three categories: argument and research; organization and structure; and delivery. First, second, and third place winners will be selected, and each will receive gift cards redeemable at the Penn State Schuylkill Bookstore.

Light refreshments will be provided after the event.
