Annual Survivor Tea to benefit community program

The annual Survivor Tea program is scheduled for April 7 at noon in room 101 of the Classroom Building. This event is an opportunity for attendees to celebrate survival over life's challenges, including major obstacles and every day difficulties. An invited special guest will present on, "It's not just black or white: A personal victory".

Penn State Schuylkill student selected for coveted government internship program

 Bryan Underkoffler, a native of Tower City, PA, and a 2011 graduate of Williams Valley High School, was competitively selected for an internship program with the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) at the Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. Underkoffler was one of only four students selected out of thousands of applications for this coveted program.

Jay Paterno book signing at Penn State Schuylkill

Jay Paterno, former assistant and quarterback coach for the Penn State University Nittany Lions football team, will be at Penn State Schuylkill for a book signing on Thursday, April 30, 2015, promoting his biography of legendary coach Joe Paterno.

Anozie represents Schuylkill as an Alumni Achievement Award recipient

Twelve young Penn State alumni were honored for outstanding professional accomplishment and presented with the Penn State Alumni Association's Alumni Achievement Award at a dinner ceremony March 27, 2015 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College, PA. These prominent alumni, 35 years of age and younger, are nominated by an academic college or campus and invited by the president of the University to return to campus to share their expertise with students and the Penn State community.

Schuylkill faculty member selected for David M. Sokol Area Chairs Award

Harmut Heep, Ph.D., associate professor of German and comparative literature at Penn State Schuylkill, was selected as a 2015 recipient of the David M. Sokol Area Chairs Award. Dr. Heep will receive this prestigious award at the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association (PCA/ACA) National Conference in New Orleans, LA, on April 1-4, 2015. The mission of the PCA/ACA is to promote the study of popular culture throughout the world through the establishment and promotion of conferences, publications, and discussion.

Activities planned in celebration of Earth Day

Earth Day, a nationally recognized holiday that is celebrated each year on April 22, is a day to show support for environmental protection. Penn State Schuylkill and the campus EPICS Committee (Envision, Plan, Implement, Change, Sustain), have several free events planned throughout the day, and invite the campus and local community to attend.

Students collect donations for homelessness programming

In November 2014, the Penn State Schuylkill Community Service Club held a "Box" event to bring awareness to the homelessness issue in our local area. On one of the coldest days of the year, students stayed outside on the campus mall walk for sixteen hours in donated boxes, where they were not allowed to eat or drink unless someone purchased it for them. They were also not permitted to use any type of technology.
