One Community Impacting Many: Schuylkill

New video showcases Penn State Schuylkill’s community impact

Penn State Schuylkill is improving the lives of others, right here in our region.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – For 90 years, Penn State Schuylkill has served as an anchor institution in the greater Schuylkill County community, providing thousands of students with a world-class Penn State education and helping the community thrive.

Now, a new video celebrates the broad community impact of Penn State Schuylkill.

“We are proud to release this video that captures the essence of our work and mission here at Penn State Schuylkill,” said Chancellor Patrick M. Jones. “The video illustrates how we provide access to affordable, high-quality education, conduct and promote research to improve people's lives, and engage with our communities to make them better places to live.”

The video features scenes:

  • From campus, including healthcare, science and technology labs, library and classroom scenes,  professional development classes offered to local employers like Wegmans, and the campus’s beautiful central hub known as Mall Walk
  • In the community, including student clinical scenes from local healthcare organizations, Penn State Schuylkill Co-Op scenes from the Evans Network, and sweeping aerial views of Pottsville
  • That showcase campus research efforts, including work that investigates cyberbullying in rural areas, and the health of our freshwater ecosystems

Special thanks to the many students, staff and faculty members, and community partners who helped during the production of the video.

Penn State Schuylkill’s “One Community Impacting Many” video is part of a larger initiative coordinated by the University to share the impact that Penn State campuses have in their respective communities throughout Pennsylvania.
