Penn State Schuylkill, in partnership with Penn State LionPulse, has made significant strides in improving health and wellness efforts aimed at students, staff and faculty. LionPulse is an initiative to enhance wellness within the Penn State community, funded through a University seed grant that supports the Penn State Strategic Plan.
Penn State Schuylkill recently announced an anonymous gift of $250,000 to help fund LionLaunch, part of Invent Penn State, a University-wide initiative established to spur economic growth in Pennsylvania.

Patrick Jones, assistant vice president for academic affairs, online learning, at Drexel University, has been named chancellor at Penn State Schuylkill, effective Jan. 4, 2019. Jones has more than 30 years of experience in the field of education as an academic administrator, professor and band conductor, in addition to serving for 30 years in the U.S. Army and Air Force.

Penn State has named the John E. Morgan Foundation its inaugural Foundation Partner of the Year. The award recognizes the Morgan Foundation’s long history of philanthropy toward a wide range of programs across the University.
Michael Cardamone, former physics professor at Penn State Schuylkill, and his wife, Barbara, both Penn State alumni, have established the Dr. Michael and Barbara Cardamone Renaissance Scholarship, which will benefit high-achieving students with the greatest financial need.
Cory Scherer, assistant director of academic affairs, program coordinator for psychology, and associate professor of psychology at Penn State Schuylkill, has been named interim director of academic affairs at the Schuylkill campus, effective July 1. Scherer has been serving as assistant director of academic affairs since his appointment to the position in July 2017.
Penn State alumnus Ken Schoener recently created a new Open Doors Scholarship with a gift of $30,000, which the University will match 2:1 through the Open Doors Scholarship Program. He also made an estate commitment to give another $125,000 to the University for the Dorothy L. Schoener Memorial Scholarship he established in 2000.
Darcy L. Medica has been named interim chancellor of Penn State Schuylkill. Medica, currently director of academic affairs and associate professor of biology, will begin her appointment on Aug. 1.
