“Te deixas sempre um pouco de ti e lleas also contigo”—You always leave a bit of you and always take something with you. Nine Penn State students from three different campuses—Schuylkill, University Park and Harrisburg—will always recall this Portuguese-inspired thought as shared with them by Florbela Ferreira.
At 4 a.m. on March 3, a group of 13 Penn State Schuylkill students accompanied by two staff members headed to Florida for their spring break. Their destination was not Daytona Beach, Miami Beach, Key West or any of the other popular hotspots that lure college students to Florida at this time of year.
Penn State Schuylkill students and staff embarked on an "alternative" spring break, where they devoted several days to Habitat for Humanity projects in Florida.
Three Penn State Schuylkill students and one staff member traveled to Montreal, Quebec, from May 22 to 29 to participate in a campus-sponsored, international Habitat for Humanity Canada trip.
