The Grant Writing Toolbox is the final workshop series in Penn State Schuylkill’s suite of grant-writing courses, helping participants make their grants stand out in the crowd. This course offers participants grant-writing tips, teaches how to effectively communicate with grant awarders, and more.
- Workshop 1: How to Develop Your Organizational Statement
In the first workshop of this series, the instructor will present participants with a step-by-step process instructing them how to draft a quality organizational statement. The most competitive grant applications require this written narrative, and this workshop will help you create a distinct and eye-catching organizational statement. Participants will learn what an organizational statement is, why it’s important, and how to draft one of quality.
- Workshop 2: How to Compose an Engaging Letter of Inquiry
In this workshop, participants will learn what a letter of inquiry is and how to craft one that will improve their organization’s grant-seeking success.
- Workshop 3: How to Develop a Stellar Cover Letter
Like the letter of inquiry, the cover letter is an important communication tool in the grant writer’s toolbox. A well-written cover letter helps organizations streamline the grant-writing process, and this workshop will introduce participants to best practices on how to design one as well as the key elements of a grant application cover letter.
- Workshop 4: Steps to Ensure a Successful Online Grant Application Submission
In the final session of the Grant Writing Toolbox series, participants will review an online application with the instructor and undergo a step-by-step process filled with important tips to improve their online applications. In this workshop, participants will learn about the common types of online grant applications, how to plan to complete those applications, and how to avoid common pitfalls and application rejection.
The Grant Writing Toolbox workshops will be delivered virtually via Zoom. Classes will meet Tuesdays, Nov. 2, through Nov. 30, 2021, from 5 to 6 p.m.
