About the artist:

I don’t think anyone has defined art better than James Hillman. “Art is the visual manifestation of the soul’s desperate concerns.” My art has always been a way for me to augment strong, personal feelings about my observations and experiences going through this thing called life. Creating works of art that focus on common human interactions that tie us together has been my dominant subject matter. My paintings and drawings have an expressive figurative focus, capturing a gestural, symbolic “meaning of the moment”. The figures in my work are often portrayed in a decisive, emotional minute that will have lasting impact on the human condition.

Chet Davis has been an artist, art educator, and art advocate in Central Pennsylvania for over fifty years. He earned his BS in art education from Penn State and a MA from the Hartford Art School and has taught art at all levels, elementary through university, in public and private institutions. He has had more than 30 solo exhibitions and has been in numerous curated invitationals and national juried shows.

Chet is a Penn State Schuylkill Campus alumni, having attended there his freshmen year 1969-1970. He gratefully acknowledges the important, pivotal part Schuylkill Campus played in his education and lifelong journey through the arts. He strongly believes the time he spent at the campus as a commuting student from Ashland helped him transition from a naive, hesitant seventeen year old to a confident, active art education major at University Park.
