What is PaSSS?
The Pathway to Success: Summer Start (PaSSS) program is
designed to help you make an easy transition to college life while also
saving you money on tuition! Sign up for Pathways to Success: Summer Start Program (PaSSS) to:
Earn credit hours towards your Penn State Schuylkill education, including two online classes and extra opportunities to prepare you for college success.
Receive a scholarship of $250 per credit for six credits taken your first summer.
Meet classmates before the fall semester to help you develop a group of friends in your new environment.
Kick off your college career in a more relaxed summer setting.
Take part in fun virtual activities tailored to PaSSS students.

When is the PaSSS program?
The PaSSS program is six weeks and begins Wednesday, July 1, through Wednesday, August 12.
How do I apply for PaSSS?
The Pathway to Success: Summer Start (PaSSS) program is an invitation-only program. If you would like to express your interest in being considered, please email the Admissions Office.
Which classes will I take?
First-Year Seminar (PSU 008 - 3 Credits)
First-Year Seminar is a required course for all students. This course provides an introduction to college, and to the resources and people at Penn State Schuylkill, as well as strategies for success in the classroom.
The Graphic Novel (ENGL 136 - 3 Credits)
This course considers the graphic novel as a literary medium which joins text and image. The course explores the aesthetic of sequential narrative, its methods of production and consumption, and its place in contemporary culture. This course will count toward general education requirements.
ALEKs Workshop (non-credit math workshop)
This is an individualized math workshop working toward maximum math preparation for fall 2020.
How much will PaSSS cost?

PLUS: Students receive a $400 stipend to go towards books/fees/supplies.

We recommend that you file a 2019-20 Free Application for Federal StudentAid (FAFSA) for the PaSSS Program. Summer FAFSA recommended filing date is June 15, 2020. This is in addition to the FAFSA that you may have already filed for 2020-21. Visit studentaid.gov to complete FAFSA forms (PSU School Code: 003329).
