Why Become a Nurse Practitioner?
The Nurse Practitioner options enable baccalaureate-prepared nurses to acquire advanced knowledge and clinical practice skills in direct care of individuals, families, and aggregate populations in primary care settings. Students commit to a part- or full-time plan of study to meet the requirements for one of two specialty areas:
• Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
• Family Nurse Practitioner
Time Commitment and Logistics
The program is designed to be completed in two years (four semesters) of full-time study. Graduates are eligible for national certification and state licensure as a family nurse practitioner or adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner.
The curriculum is delivered to Penn State Schuylkill using videoconferencing technology and some online courses, with clinical experiences at health care facilities in the local area.

The original date of March 18-20 has been postponed by CCNE in alignment with the CDC and the state of Pennsylvania's coronavirus mitigation efforts. The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing will announce the new accreditation visit date once it is determined.
