German musician to visit Penn State Schuylkill through exchange program Oct. 3-6

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — Peter Geisselbrecht, professor of music at the Justus Liebig University (JLU) in Giessen, Germany, will be on campus Oct. 3-6 as part of an annual exchange program between JLU and Penn State Schuylkill.

The exchange program was developed in 2005 in an effort expose students from both institutions to different cultures and teaching styles. Through this program, Geisselbrecht has been invited to present guest lectures at campus music classes. He will also be performing a free recital for the campus community and the general public. The recital will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in Room 101 of the Classroom Building.

A renowned teacher and performer, with a concentration in piano and improvisation, Geisselbrecht’s past residencies and concerts have contributed greatly to the cultural life of the Penn State Schuylkill community, and he has helped many students gain a better understanding and appreciation of music.
