Why did I choose Penn State Schuylkill?

"When I was getting out of the Marine Corps, I decided to go to college. I wouldn't choose any other school because of what Penn State has done for my family. Since I had not been in school for a long time, I wanted to start at a smaller campus that was close to home."

What has my experience been like at Penn State Schuylkill?

"My experience has been great. I've reconnected with many old friends and met new ones. I'm enjoying the college atmosphere and I've put a lot of my time into this. Penn State has become a large part of my life.

The transition from military to college life made me very nervous at first. It's a completely different world here in college. I had a lot of help from friends who had already experienced the transition. They gave me good advice and guided me through it."

Why did I decide to join the military? What was my greatest accomplishment while serving?

"Growing up, it was always my dream to be in the military. Once I was old enough, I started talking to recruiters and found the Marine Corps to be the best for for me. I wanted to serve my country and learn special skill I could use for the rest of my life.

My greatest accomplishment in the military occurred while I was serving a combat deployment in Marjah, Afghanistan. I was leading combat patrols as a squad leader and received a meritorious promotion to Corporal and also received a NAM with Combat 'V'."

How was the Veterans benefits process at Penn State Schuylkill?

"It's great and easy. If you have any questions or need help or advice, there's always someone there to give you a hand with anything you need."

What are my career goals for the future?

"My major is administration of justice and once I graduate I would like to work for the State Police, Marshals, or another similar agency. I've also thought that the Pennsylvania Game Commission might be a good fit for the skills I have developed at Penn State Schuylkill."
