Pathways to Success: Summer Start Program (PaSSS)

The Pathway to Success: Summer Start (PaSSS) program is a six-week program designed to help you make an easy transition to college life while also saving you money on tuition!

Program Benefits

  • Kick off your college career in a more relaxed summer setting.
  • Take two classes and a math workshop specifically designed to help you acclimate to college.
  • Meet classmates earlier to help you develop a new group of friends in your new environment.
  • Build your résumé early by getting work experience through your campus-coordinated job.
  • Receive personalized instruction in math and English to increase your college readiness.
  • Receive a scholarship of $250 per credit for six credits taken your first summer.
  • Live in air-conditioned campus housing during PaSSS at a significantly reduced cost of $200 for the entire six-week session (housing not required).

There are a limited number of seats available in the PaSSS program each year.

In order to be considered for participation in the program, students must fill out a simple online application. Applicants must be first year students who have been offered admission to Penn State Schuylkill.

Qualified candidates will be contacted by the admissions office with a decision on PaSSS eligibility and next steps. Candidates who are offered a spot in the PaSSS program must then accept their offer of admission to Penn State Schuylkill in order to confirm their participation in the program. There are a limited number of seats in the program each year, so apply now!

What is the time commitment?

Penn State Schuylkill’s PaSSS program is a six-week summer session running from Saturday, June 24 through Friday, August 4, 2017.

What is there to do outside of class in the PaSSS program?

Aside from the fantastic academic opportunities available at PaSSS, we have a fun schedule of student life activities planned for the six-week summer session.  You can look forward to group meals, icebreakers, beach volleyball, kickball, outdoor activities, shopping, an amusement park trip and much more. These activities are open to both residential and commuter PaSSS students, too!
